We're a licensed Central NJ contractor that runs your project step by step: fixed prices and written standards agreed up front, photos of every finished step, and money that only moves when the work passes — your approval, or an independent inspector's. You're never more than a step or two out of pocket ahead of verified work.
Electronic payments sit in protected holding; checks are logged and payout-gated the same way.
Released only when you approve.
A five-figure deposit, handed over on day one, to someone you met last week. That quiet dread is exactly what stops people from starting the project they want. Here's the difference.
Your money's gone before a single tile is laid.
No-shows, silence, and no real leverage.
By the time you notice, the money's spent.
Never the whole job on faith — just the work in front of you.
Electronic payments sit in protected holding; nothing is paid out to anyone until the work passes.
Your approval — or, on big steps, an independent inspector grading written standards.
Every step gets a fixed price and written acceptance standards — the definition of done — agreed before anything starts. No vague “we'll figure it out” estimates.
Electronic payments go into protected holding, not into our pocket. It sits there while the work happens. Pay by check? It's logged, countersigned, and payout-gated exactly the same.
When a step is finished you get photos and video of the real, completed work — right on your phone, wherever you are.
Approve it yourself, or on big steps an independent inspector grades the work item by item against the written standards. Not right? Say exactly what — nothing pays out until it's fixed.
Nothing about paying for a renovation should feel like a gamble — so every rule below is enforced by the system, not by promises.
Electronic payments are held until the work passes — never handed over on day one. Every payment, even a check, is logged.
Larger steps are verified by an independent inspector against written standards — never by us grading our own work. Prefer to approve yourself? You can, and you save the fee.
Any change to a price, scope, or selection is logged where you can see it — who changed it and what it was before. Nothing changes silently.
A real, accountable New Jersey contractor — not a stranger off an app. Licensed and insured on every job.
The fixed price you approve is the price you pay. Selections and finishes are locked before a step starts, so taste never becomes a payment fight.
Progress, photos, the schedule, and exactly what's paid and what's left — all on your phone.
From a tired hall bath to a spa-like primary suite — demo, waterproofing, tile, and fixtures, each step approved as we go.
Cabinets, counters, and layouts that actually work — a big project made calm by breaking it into fundable steps.
Bigger builds run the same way: planned by professionals, priced per step, inspected against written standards.
Also: powder rooms · laundry & mudrooms · flooring · trim & carpentry · painting · fences & decks
No testimonials yet — just the rules we can't break.
Every step has written standards agreed before work starts. When it's done you see photos — and on big steps an independent inspector grades the work item by item. Money releases only on a pass. If something's wrong, you say exactly what, it gets fixed, and it's re-checked.
You fund a step or two ahead — never the whole job on faith. Electronic payments sit in protected holding until release, every payment (even a check) is logged and countersigned, and anything unstarted is refundable. A signed lien waiver comes with every release.
Still unsure? Message us from your project page — no pressure, no obligation.
When you fund a step electronically, the money goes into protected holding — it doesn't come to us. It's released only after the work passes review: your approval, or on big steps an independent inspector grading written standards. If you pay by check or cash, the payment is logged and countersigned by both sides, and payouts are gated exactly the same way.
Then don't approve it. Use “Request changes” with the specific issue and we make it right before any money releases — and on inspected steps, a neutral inspector judges “built right” against the standards we all agreed to, never us grading our own work. One honest note: if you go completely silent for a week after work is submitted, a step auto-approves so the crew isn't stranded — you'll get reminders well before that.
We do. FairBuilds is a licensed, insured general contractor in Central New Jersey. Vetted crew members we manage directly handle each step — you never manage or pay a sub yourself.
Small projects can be funded in full if you prefer the simplicity — the money still releases only step by step. Larger projects run on a “runway”: you keep just the next step or two funded ahead, so you're never more than that ahead of verified work. Funded steps where work hasn't begun are refundable.
Each step has a fixed, agreed price up front, and the price you approve is the price you pay. Our margin is inside those fixed prices — nothing is layered on top after you approve. Optional independent inspections are a flat fee shown before you choose them, and you can skip one and approve yourself.
